4 Tips on How to Stay Consistent with Working Out

So I recently started working out June 1st 2021 and I must say I absolutely love it! I can’t believe it has been a whole month that I’ve been consistently working out! I have been wanting to work out since last year but always had an excuse. My main excuse was, “I don’t have time to work out because I need to take care of my son”. What I failed to realize is that you make time for what’s important. I finally figured out how to do both, take care of my son once I got off work and workout and my life has been so much better. It’s amazing how working out consistently can make you feel. Consequently, here are some tips on how to stay consistent with working out.

Come up with a routine

In order for you to be consistent with working out, you must have a routine in place. My routine is: After I get off work at 4, I come home cook dinner for the family, we eat at the table around 5-5:30, I play with Isaiah until its bath time around 7, give him a bath, read a book, put him down by 8-8:30 and then I work out from 8:30-9. With this routine, I’m able to still spend time with my son and still work out. Working out is so important to me now thus I make time for it.

Already know what you’re going to do ahead of time

I recently bought a ProForm Indoor Cycle Bike from Walmart and it has changed the game for my workouts. I wanted a Peleton but whew, they are too expensive. So, I opted for this bike and I love it! Yes it has pros and cons but the pros outweigh the cons for me and it gets the job done. With this bike you would have to use your own iPad to work out with different trainers and classes but I don’t mind it because I have an IPad. You would have to download an app called IFit. With this app you’re able to find a class ahead of time so when it’s time to work out, you already know what you’re going to do.

Also, even if you don’t have the bike and you’re working out from home or at a gym, you can plan ahead on what workouts you’re going to do. I work out at home, so I use the IFit app as well as YouTube. Whatever works for you, just plan ahead and you are more likely to stay consistent with working out.

Wearing cute workout clothes

I don’t know about you, but wearing cute workout clothes always motivate me to work out. There are so many different sites and places to shop for cute workout clothes. I’m in the process of getting more but some places that I know of are Fabletics, Amazon, and Old Navy. I’m sure there are many more. It seems as though workout clothes have gotten cuter over the last few years and I’m not mad at it lol.

Having an accountability partner or someone to motivate you

Having someone to push you to workout definitely helps you stay consistent. My best friend Brittney (BJ) is the one who motivated me to start working out. She’s been working out for a while and is very consistent which inspired me to do the same. I personally wanted to feel better and have more energy and if I’m honest, relieve some stress. So I’m glad I have her as an accountability partner. Also, my husband motivates me to work out! No he doesn’t workout with me but he encourages me to keep going. He allows me to do it because he knows how important it is to me! Accountability is so key with being consistent!

I hope you found these tips helpful and that it motivated you to start working out if you haven’t already. Know that you can be consistent once you put your mind to it and do it!
