3 Reasons Why I Cut My Hair

Hey guys, I know it’s been a while since I’ve written a blog post. I just have not been motivated to write but I’m back now and I’m excited to start back writing. So, let’s just jump right into it! Well, by the title, I CUT MY HAIR! Yes, after 4 years of growing out my natural hair, I cut it. I will share why I cut my hair below:

Heat Damage

So my hair was severely damaged from using so much heat. I didn’t flat iron my hair that much, maybe twice a year but over the time of 4 years, I guess that was enough. I also blow dried my hair A LOT the first 2 years because I wanted big hair all the time. I loved that look so much so I continued blowing my hair out every time I washed it! All of my hair gurus, don’t come for me for what I’m about to say but I did not use any heat protectant when I blow dried my hair. I know now that I should have been doing that but back then, I didn’t think about it smh. I know that is the main reason for my damaged hair. I’ve learned my lesson and this time around, I am going to take better care of my hair!

Stress

My hair was stressing me out so bad that I was depressed all the time. Every time it was time to wash my hair, I would get so emotional looking at how bad my hair looked. People outside looking in couldn’t tell that my hair was damaged but I knew it was since I’m the one that was constantly doing it. I would always express how I felt about my hair to my husband because I needed to talk to someone and although he’s a man, he still was there to encourage me. But my hair made me not want to go anywhere especially if I didn’t just do it because my hairstyles did not last. My hair just really had me not feeling good about myself anymore and that’s when I knew I needed a change which brings me to my next point.

Needed a change

After continuously being stressed out about my hair, it was time for a change! I needed to feel good again about my hair and about myself. Hair is a woman’s crown and I wanted to embrace my hair. So, I knew what I needed to do and that was to cut my hair off. I needed to cut off all of the damaged hair so that my hair could start growing in healthy without any damage! I was very nervous but excited for something new. I reached out to some friends and they recommended Millie The Curl Whisperer here in Augusta GA. I’m so glad they did because I’m so happy with my tapered hair cut!

Getting my hair cut was one of the best things I’ve done for myself! I love my hair cut so much and I’m excited to start this healthy hair journey with you all. In my next hair blog post, I’m going to share all of the products that I’m using that was recommended by my hair stylist!

Did any of these reasons surprise you as to why I cut my hair? Please share below! Thanks for reading!
